How Long Would Your Epic Be?

Most of us know that an Epic is a long narrative poem glorifying the hardships, happenings, and accomplishments of a hero. Time and time again, he or she would cope with the customs of a community. With that said, think about how long your Epic would be. Say, this Epic is based on your life. Generally, it would begin from the day you were born, and the slew of happenings and thoughts that will follow. You will be the protagonist of course — no, what if you consider yourself an antagonist of your piece? Consider these questions thoughtfully. • What will be the plot? • Which point of view will the story be told from? (First, Second, or Third?) • At what point of your story do you think the climax will be? • How do you think your story will end? • Do you believe your story will have internal conflict, external conflict, vice versa, or both? • Will your piece be laminated in literary devices such as allusion, allegory, and flashback? • What is your authorial intent in writing this? • Will it be prose, poetry, prosaic poetry? • Will it reference another text?
