Into The Dark (Interlude)

Jai: “Okay...Where am I?” Delano: “Irrelevant. You’ll be wherever I want you to be when we’re finished, so allow me to introduce myself. I am Delano. In my native tongue, it means “visionary.” I see everything. So, tell me, who are you, and how do you matter?” Jai: “I’d assume you already know this…” Delano: “Oh, I know the answer. I want to hear your answer.” Jai: “Look, I’m just a dude that makes music and that’s it. I’m of no use to you.” Delano: “Someone needs to keep their ego in check. But you’re right. You can’t do anything for me but waste my time. This is all about you. Now, as you may have noticed, this place is devoid of substance in spite of its livelihood. We’re in your subconscious mind.” Jai: “Wait...What?? So, I’m dreaming…” Delano: “You got it. You’re asleep right now. You’re in a very deep sleep. In fact, I might be so bold as to suggest that you might not wake up from this one…” Jai: “Okay, I’m dead. That’s great. I’m fucking dead. Lovely.” Delano: “Yes it’s marvelous. You’re—” Jai: “It’s not marvelous!” Delano: “And you’re not dead. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here. You’re only just dying. But if you’d like to be dead, you can continue to interrupt me.” Jai: Sigh “Fine. How can I wake the hell up?” Delano: “Well, I suppose that medical professionals can arrive at your location in time to resuscitate you, but I wouldn’t take that chance. Never rely on others to do what you yourself can do better.” Jai: “You’re not giving me answers here, Delano..” Delano: “And I’m not going to. If you want them, seek them. Look beyond me, and you’ll notice that the waters shape the land into a sort of path. Go that way. If you don't think you can handle a small bit of spirited travel, just say so. You'll never have to exert yourself again. If not, then please, step into the darkness…”
