Now (Spontaneous Generation)

[Verse 1] I am part of the spontaneous generation/ Which has a fascination for instant gratification/ Before I even get the check/ To get what I want, I’ll spend money that I don’t even have yet/ Because I want it now! As quick as possible, I want life to smother me/ With undeserved luxuries/ I got a few advances and about five loans/ To pay for the stuff I want... I mean, what I need in my home/ I need it decked out with exotic plants Ivory floors/ To make it look like I could never be poor/ And getting these pricy, new kicks help me feel alive/ Along with the plasma t.v., X box, laptop, you know, the stuff I need to survive/ Of course, most of my furnishments are not legally mine/ But as long as I’m getting money, it’ll be fine/ Sure, my situation is dangerously volatile/ But I at least I got what I want as soon as possible/ And I think I speak for my generation when I say..... [Chorus] What do we need? (Whatever We Want!) When do we need it? (Now!) [Verse 2] I must admit, modern technology is crazy and maybe/ Made me a little lazy, but hey, we/ Must remember why progress is a thing that needs to be/ So that new inventions let us live our lives more easily/ Really, who want to work over the stove like a slave/ When the same job is done with a microwave/ And in less time, yes, I’m sure these meals are nutrition-free/ But I eat to be full, not to be healthy/ And so now, I may have gained a pound or two... or 50/ But there’s an ad that says I can get rid of it swiftly/ With a product that helps you lose weight while still eating whatever/ You treasure, and getting results without putting forth any effort/ Is the American dream, and I’m defenseless/ When they advertise things that help you bypass consequences/ And don’t bring up that “long term effects” crap again, pipe down/ Cuz I’m only interested in what’s happenin right now/ you understand? And I think I speak for my generation when I say..... [Chorus] [Verse 3] In these days, people might be saying that the technology we’re given/ Has devalued the quality of living/ But I disagree, because for centuries/ Man has dreamed for a day like this to be/ Were we can communicate with people in an instant all across the land/ And food is mass produced to be consumed at our command/ I’m tired of people talking like we were living in the good ol days/ And then computers came and put it all to waste/ Well, maybe technology has made us more greedy/ But at least we still need the basic things, you know, like t.v./ Okay, a culture built on short attention spans is hard to work with/ But no society’s perfect/ And we’re living in what humanity has always strived for/ And it’s your problem if you think it’s an eye sore/ Besides, we still have goals and dreams we believe in/ We just want them now, but without working too hard to achieve them/ And I think I speak for EVERYONE when I say...
