I Kill Giants

I was born in the shadows of the mountains that I battle Windmills spun around as I rode past others watching me Wondering why I fought invisible monsters because my Grandfather never got to see my face So I tried to focus more on what's in front of me investing my Heart and soul to those still left in my company The closer I get the more the days were left hourglass shattered And time spilled between my fingertips Singing in the memories of those long gone When I think of them Left with anger lingering Regret too big to speak of it Each of the time I fell on my knees I scrape the skin And when I bleed I pick myself up fast as I can see to it Time moves quickly And life keeps getting shorter And people they get weaker As bones they grow older And I still try to ride against those windmills sometimes When I got enough strength to fight And that's why I kill giants Cause that's how you fight back in life I kill giants When the shadows drown out the sunlight I kill giants Bigger they come, harder they fall Even when there's no giants at all, yeah I kill giants When I swing the Coveleski and crush I kill giants Whenever life bears down too much I kill giants Bigger they come, harder they fall I kill giants Even when there's no giants at all I kill giants They told me I'd never amount to nothing And the kids that used to tease me with noses buried in studying Doing my best I made mistakes along the way And I figured out the bullies didn't have much to say When I Spit in their face I got sent to detention So I learned to control emotions And focus my last attention An angry little kid Found beats and rhymes Who locked himself in his room And wrote out lyrics in time And though the bullies stood tall Fate's hand it stood tougher And humbled him through experience Priorities reshuffled He let go of the anger and let go of the pain Grew to become a man forging the fire and rain Now he Makes the music to address that same kid And any others who might have gone through the same stuff he did Well he used to swing blindly Now he focuses every swing Mows down opposition With the stories he sings He kills giants Cause that's how you fight back in life He kills giants When the shadows drown out the sunlight He kills giants Bigger they come, harder they fall Even when there's no giants at all, yeah I kill giants When I swing the Coveleski and crush I kill giants Whenever life bears down too much I kill giants Bigger they come, harder they fall I kill giants Even when there's no giants at all I know that life's confusing It rips from you the only things that ever seem to matter I know you've had it with the pain I know you've wanted to scream and swing blindly Try to kill all the shadows Cause that's all that you see I know you're not old enough To understand Whether you call it God's plan Or fate or cruel luck I know you're sick of hospital bed pans and CAT scans I know you're tired from lack of sleep And feel so screwed up I know you think you can't go on without me Let me tell you that I felt the same way Back when I was your age I know these respirators and machines Just as well as you do Hospital ice cream carrot cake I know the taste But you're stronger than you'll ever know Never doubt that Never forget who you are How life is never about How hard you can swing a hammer How big a noise you can make It's just about how you survive When all the hope's run out You kill giants Cause that's how you fight back in life You kill giants When the shadows drown out the sunlight You kill giants Bigger they come, harder they fall Even when there's no giants at all, yeah I kill giants When I swing the Coveleski and crush I kill giants Whenever life bears down too much I kill giants Bigger they come, harder they fall I kill giants Even when there's no giants at all
